Newborn ABR

The Newborn ABR Course

This 3-day course covers all elements of the ERA course relating to newborns.  It is open to participants internationally though the methods and standards have a UK bias. The course fee includes tuition, course matierials (printed and electronic), lunches and dinner but no accommodation, which needs to be booked separately.

Course aims:

The Newborn ABR course aims to assist prospective auditory electrophysiological testers in their training journey towards clinical competence, by delivering the theory, supplemented with practical sessions, of the more clinically popular newborn ERA tests, their interpretation, limitations and clinical roles.

Course learning outcomes:

At the end of the course, the course participant should be able to:

  1. Describe the clinical role, technical requirements and the stimulus calibration of clinically efficient threshold ABR tests, CM tests, OAE tests and ASSR tests.
  2. Identify the basis of interpretation, limitations and common errors associated with threshold ABR tests, CM tests, OAE tests and ASSR tests.
  3. Effectively report the results of threshold ABR tests, CM tests, OAE tests and ASSR tests.
  4. Identify the post-course further training needed to achieve clinical competence of an auditory electrophysiological tester.
